Isla La Ventana

After we left Bahia Los Angeles, we sailed a few miles further and dropped the anchor at Isla Ventana. We went for a hike across the island.

It is extremely dry and brown:

Even the cacti are far between and most of the brownish rather that green. Curly Spined California Fire Barrel:

On the other side of the island an osprey sat perched on a large cardon cactus:

Yet another kind of cactus, maybe a species of cholla cactus:

Before getting back to the dinghy on the beach we turned right and went up a steep trail to get a view over the whole area. Felicie at the top with several small islands dotted in the background:

The coastline furthest away to the left is mainland Baja.

From the top of the trail we saw an osprey fishing in the shallow water close to the beach:

We could also see an occupied osprey nest on a knoll overlooking the bay:
