To Canada

We left Northeast Harbor and the USA to sail to Nova Scotia in Canada. It took around 30 hours and the first building we saw was a lighthouse:

We arrived in Shelburne on June 30th, the day before the Canadian national day, Canada Day, which was special this year since Canada is celebrating its 150th birthday in 2017. Not a lot was happening in Shelburne on Canada Day and the weather was really bad. However, there are a lot of old wooden houses dating from the 1700 and 1800 still standing, some of them turned into museums:

We left Shelburne to continue further east and sailed a whole day in thick fog. However, at the end of the day when we sailed closer to shore to find a place to anchor for the night, the sky cleared within a few minutes to a cloudless sky:

We had made an appointment with Shining Waters boat yard and marina west of Halifax (the capital of Nova Scotia) to have the bottom of the boat painted. Here are a few pictures of Amanda being lifted out of the water:

While the boat yard worked on Amanda, we went to Halifax to have a look at the town. We visited the citadel and saw (and heard) the cannon being fired at noon:
