Misol Ha

After three days, we left the Rio Lacanja eco camp and started our way back towards Puerto Aventuras. We did have a few stops on the way and a few more places and Maya ruins to see. First, we went to the Cascada de Misol Ha. It is a 35 meter high waterfall falling into a large almost circular pool where tourists and locals like to swim:

Behind the waterfall is a short cave. Here is Felicie next to the entrance to the cave:

After having a late lunch at Misol Ha we went on to Palenque, which is both a town and a Maya site. The Maya site is one of the most famous Maya sites and we wanted to visit. We arrived to Palenque in the late afternoon and found a hotel for the night and had a nice dinner at one of the nearby restaurants. We had been told that it might be possible to spot some toucans in the early morning near the entrance to Palenque. We got up really early the following morning and lo and behold, we saw one toucan! Unfortunately it was pretty far away so the pictures are not very good. However, if you look carefully you can see the bird in the middle of the picture below:
