Pico del Teide

On Tenerife, we spent an afternoon walking in the national park around the highest mountain on the island: Pico del Teide. At 3,718 meters, it is in fact the highest mountain in the whole of Spain and all the Atlantic islands. If you count its height from the bottom of the seabed it is around 7,500 meters.

The national park has lots of nice hiking trails. Like the rest of the Canary Islands, this whole area is volcanic. The last eruption was in 1909.
